At Promeco, summer jobs offer more than just work experience. They provide a chance to see firsthand how high-quality industrial production is created and what kinds of career paths the industry can open. Summer employees work in a wide range of roles, from production and quality assurance to logistics, directly contributing to the company’s success. Along the way, they gain valuable skills that benefit both their studies and future careers.

Quality Assurance is a Team Effort

Quality is one of Promeco’s core values and ensures it is not only management’s responsibility. Every employee plays a key role in maintaining high standards. Summer employees are given real responsibility, participating in quality control, testing, measurements, and inspections as part of their teams. From the start, they learn how every detail affects the final outcome.

For example, Jutta Mäki emphasizes how meaningful it was that her tasks went beyond support work. She was actively involved in quality inspections and analyzing sources of defects alongside experienced colleagues. This hands-on experience helped her understand what “quality” means in practice and how her contribution directly impacts the customer experience.

Summer work also provides an opportunity to demonstrate responsibility and precision, qualities that are highly valued for future roles. When an employer sees that an employee can independently identify quality factors and tackle challenges with a solution-orientated mindset, it strengthens the potential for long-term collaboration.

Jutta Mäki: Quality Trainee in Vaasa

After graduating as an Energy Technology Engineer from Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, Jutta joined Promeco’s Vaasa site as a quality trainee. She heard about the open position from a classmate whose brother worked at the company.

During the summer, she gained in-depth experience in quality assurance processes and took part in practical development work.

“The tasks were diverse, and I was given responsibility right from the start. It’s been great to see how quality directly affects customer satisfaction and the company’s success,” Jutta says.

Her employment continues as a Quality and Environmental Engineer, highlighting how a summer job can serve as a springboard for a long-term career at Promeco.

Henri Hakamäki: Practical Work and Learning New Skills

Henri Hakamäki is already a familiar face at Promeco, having worked at the company during the summers of 2022 and 2023. In summer 2025, he eagerly returned to a familiar environment and received a warm welcome. He first heard about Promeco from his brother, who works as a foreman at the company.

This summer, Henri worked in logistics and took part in a logistics planning project at the Yrityspuisto production unit. The experience allowed him to learn new tasks and operate various types of equipment, which helped him become more independent and confident in his work.

“The summer has been very educational, and I’ve gained valuable practical experience that I can use in the future,” Henri says.

He appreciates that young employees at Promeco are given the chance to take on meaningful work and develop their skills. His next goal is to complete his business degree and discuss future career opportunities with Promeco.

Jaakko Vuorisalo: First Steps in the Industry and Learning Supervisory Skills

Originally from Pori, Jaakko Vuorisalo is studying Electrical and Automation Engineering at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. A career changer who previously worked in healthcare, Jaakko found his first job in the engineering field at Promeco. He learned about the company through a friend who recommended it as a great place to work.

Although he initially applied for an assembler position, Promeco offered him a role as a substitute supervisor, which turned out to be an excellent opportunity. During the summer, he worked as a supervisor in connection and mechanical assembly, gaining a broad understanding of both production and leadership. Jaakko describes the onboarding process as thorough and the team atmosphere as open and supportive.

“If no one immediately knew the answer, we would find it together. That made learning smooth and safe,” Jaakko recalls.

In the autumn, Jaakko will continue at Promeco while completing his thesis and sees strong potential for future employment in responsible and technically challenging positions.

“My summer experience exceeded expectations and reinforced my feeling that this is the right field and the right place to keep learning,” he concludes.

Career Opportunities Beyond Summer Work

A summer job at Promeco is not just a temporary experience. It can be the first step toward a lasting career. Many trainees and summer employees continue working at Promeco in part-time or full-time roles after graduation.

The company values young professionals and provides clear career paths and opportunities to grow in versatile and responsible positions. This commitment to quality and continuous learning makes summer work at Promeco a meaningful experience that can shape the foundation for a successful future.
