Promeco Selected by EV Maritime for Western Australia’s Landmark Electric Ferry Project
Promeco has been selected by EV Maritime to deliver key electrical cabinets for Western Australia’s first fully electric ferry fleet, supporting the transition toward zero-emission maritime transport.
EV Maritime is an Auckland-based maritime technology company specializing in electric vessel design, engineering and systems integration for zero-emission ferry operations. It has been appointed by Australian shipbuilder Echo Marine Group Pty Ltd to provide electrical systems integration for five new battery-electric fast ferries being built for the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia. The vessels will become Western Australia’s first fully electric ferry fleet. Perth project builds on the technical success of EV Maritime’s landmark project for Auckland Transport: 2 x 200-pax 24m fast ferries. These vessels have been reported to be the world’s fastest fully-electric ferries.
Under the project, Promeco will manufacture and deliver key electrical cabinets for the vessels’ propulsion, power distribution and charging systems to EV Maritime’s design and integration requirements. All cabinets will undergo comprehensive Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and relevant classification approval before shipment.
