Noise Control Project Supports Occupational Health

Meluntorjuntahanke

Promeco is co-funding a three-year research project called Työnäänet (The Sound of Work), carried out in collaboration between the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health and A-Insinöörit. The project examines industrial soundscapes, impulse noise peaks, and the effects of noise on employees’ well-being, workflow efficiency, and learning at work. The goal is to develop solutions that support these areas in industrial workplaces.

Noise Study Supports Workplace Development

Promeco’s Yrityspuisto, Pansia, and Vaasa facilities are participating in the project, where noise measurements are conducted by experts from the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health.

The Pansia facility has previously implemented soundproofing solutions, making this research a unique opportunity to evaluate their effectiveness. So far, measured noise levels have not been alarming, but additional measurements will be conducted later.

The study results will be analyzed together with occupational health professionals and A-Insinöörit, and improvement measures will be planned for different departments. A-Insinöörit will also model facility spaces to ensure that noise reduction improvements are precisely targeted where they are needed most.

  • Employee experiences of noise are a central part of this study. Interviews provide valuable insights into how noise is perceived in daily work and its effects on well-being, explains Promeco’s Occupational Safety Manager Jarkko Rantakytö.

A Leader in Responsibility and Workplace Well-Being

Promeco is committed to ensuring employee well-being and smooth work processes in all areas.

  • Hearing loss is the most common occupational disease in Finland. That’s why it’s crucial to anticipate risks and improve the work environment based on this research, says Promeco’s QEHS Director Heidi Hakala.

The project’s final results will provide Promeco and other participants with valuable tools for managing noise and improving occupational well-being. This initiative is part of Promeco’s long-term commitment to responsibility and employee welfare.
