Promeco Successfully Renews Three Certificates

Promeco has successfully renewed the following three certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001. The company passed the audits clearly and received excellent feedback on the audit.

The ISO 9001 standard provides a framework for the managing operations, quality management and quality assurance, while ISO 45001 serves as a tool for the international occupational health and safety management. The ISO 14001 environmental certification supports the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental actions.

These certifications are valid for three years, after which the company’s operations are reassessed for renewal. The re-certification audit lasted a total of nine working days.

New Practices

For the first time, Promeco’s audit was carried out by SGS. The new partner brought new collaboration methods, and according to Promeco’s QEHS Director Heidi Hakala, Promeco is very satisfied with SGS’s approach.

– Preparations for the audit began with a joint meeting where the audit plan was reviewed. It was a whole new approach for us with the certification body, but it was highly appreciated.

The audits were conducted at Promeco’s units in Finland and Poland during the summer. The audit included document reviews, employee interviews and observations of the production facilities and outdoor areas. The first audit day was held in June 2024, when SGS Lead Auditor Ari Numminen audited Promeco Group and learned more about Promeco’s operations.

– At first, I was a little nervous about how the audit would go with a new partner. The ease of the transition was a pleasant surprise, and it was refreshing to see different working methods. We also received positive feedback from the staff.

Positive Results

The comprehensive audit report provides valuable information to Promeco, showing where the company has succeeded and what can be improved. Hakala is very pleased with the results.

– Promeco is often praised for its order and tidiness, which was also noted this time. In addition, we received positive feedback on management strategies. Promeco strives for transparency in all its operations, and it is great to hear that this is recognized externally as well.

SGS highlighted Promeco’s management system maintenance as one of its strengths. The system sends automation messages from documentation to process owners, which means that no document is left unreviewed. This helps in maintaining the system.

Two slight deviations were detected during the audit. Actions have already been taken and responses have been sent to SGS. The response included a root cause analysis explaining why the deviations were found, how they will be corrected, and what preventive actions Promeco will take to avoid them in the future.

In addition to certificate renewals, Promeco’s operations are assessed annually by external parties, which helps the company gain a broader overall picture.
