Production Manager Mika Kalli’s story at Promeco is an inspiring example of how a summer job and internship can open doors to a successful career. Mika started his career at Promeco in 2013 as an intern, which he completed as part of his basic electrician qualification. “I had heard about Promeco from my schoolmates, and the company emerged as a workplace with good opportunities for a long career and career development,” Mika explains his reasons for applying for an internship at Promeco.

During his internship, Mika worked in mechanical and electrical subassembly and continued the same tasks in his summer job after the internship. “Towards the end of my first summer, I was able to do final assembly wiring “, Mika says and continues: “It was motivating to see how my handprint improved with repetitions.”

Diverse career opportunities

Mika’s career path at Promeco has been versatile and eventful: ” For several years, I changed from sub-assemblies to switchgear and inspection.” Mika also worked as a foreman for a while before moving to his current role as Production Manager. According to Mika, diverse experiences are only good as they broaden perspective.

Even though there have been many changes along the career path, Mika has never felt alone: “Every employee receives a comprehensive orientation when they come in, and every time they move to a new department, they are accompanied by a more experienced person to guide them through the tasks.” Taking care of our employees is one of Promeco’s core values: we always strive to ensure that employees are familiar with the tasks and procedures of each department.

“It has also been easy to turn to supervisors with questions on your mind,” Mika says. He also emphasises the equality of the work community: “All my colleagues have been very receptive.”

A career at Promeco has not been limited to technical skills only. For example, customers may have certain requirements for which additional training is provided. The Promeco Pro training provided Mika with support for supervisor tasks. Sometimes Mika also participates in various webinars that deepen his knowledge.

Promeco as a workplace

Mika finds working in an international company very positive. Language skills increase when communication sometimes takes place in English. He also emphasises the versatility of the workplace: “Promeco offers its employees huge opportunities to tailor their job description – there are many different departments and work phases available.”

For example, in electromechanics, there are different production lines and departments that include different work phases and tasks, from mechanics to switching and their combinations. “It’s important to be brave enough to express your wishes so that a suitable time can be found to implement them”, Mika says.

Mika’s thinking has been guided by the central idea that every work phase, no matter how big or small, is just as important. Each stage takes the action forward for its part.

Mika’s story is an example of how different job descriptions enable continuous growth and development. With the right attitude and motivation, you can grow and advance significantly in your career. “At Promeco, you get to see and experience great things in a good working environment”, Mika sums up.
